Home Improvement’s Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who stepped back from Hollywood in 2015, posed in an extremely rare photo with former costars Patricia Richardson and Taran Noah Smith.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas’ latest sighting would be hard to improve on.

The Home Improvement star, who stepped back from Hollywood in 2015, made an extremely rare appearance reuniting with former costars Patricia Richardson and Taran Noah Smith.

Richardson, who played mom Jill Taylor, shared a glimpse into the sweet reunion with Thomas, who played Randy, and Smith, who played Mark. Alongside the photo of the trip, Richardson—who is a real-life mom of three—mused in the July 29 Instagram post, “My other boys.”

In the photo, Thomas is all smiles, sporting his now-signature thick-rimmed glasses and a black shirt. The 44-year-old’s once famously dirty blonde appears to be a darker brown as he squeezed in alongside Richardson and Smith.

Thomas’ rare outing comes just over a month after Tim Allen—who played Tim Taylor on the beloved 1990s sitcom—shared an update on why the cast has never reunited for an on-screen special.

"They keep talking about how it could move forward, but they get stuck [because] there are some personality problems right now with the boys," Allen told US Weekly in June. “They’ve got their own issues. I always thought it would be cool if it was a story about them. That’s a little challenging right now, to put it mildly."

Indeed, Taylor sons Thomas and Smith have all but stepped back from acting, while the fellow cast member  Zachary Ty Bryan, who played eldest brother Brad, has faced several rounds of legal troubles since the series ended in 1999.

But even if all the stars were to align on a possible reboot project, Thomas is busy carving out a new chapter in his life after leaving Hollywood over 10 years ago.

“I’d been going nonstop since I was 8 years old,” Thomas told People in 2013. “I never took the fame too seriously. It was a great period in my life, but it doesn’t define me. When I think back on the time, I look at it with a wink. I focus on the good moments I had, not that I was on a lot of magazine covers.”

Indeed, when considering taking a step back from the limelight, Thomas assured he has “no regrets.

“I watch a lot of movies,” he explained of how he spends his private time. “I hike, I stay up on shows and theater.”
